About Operation CultShare

Operation CultShare is a journalism project, a narrative project, a photography project, an art project — a project close to our hearts. It is a travel blog — but it is more than that. Here we tell stories about journeys, people, and places — but also about cultural transitions: about culture in all its interconnectedness, in its everyday presence, but also in its creative unfolding, in its economic dimension, and in its personal meaning.

Above all, however, we are interested in people themselves and in how they move through and find their bearings in a changing world: how cities transform, how spaces are designed, how images shape perception, how economic structures frame possibilities, and how travel can become a practice of attention — beyond consumption and surface impressions.

CultShare emerged, like so many travel blogs, from our own travels, from our passion for photography — and from conversations we shared. But there was always more. A desire to look behind the scenes, behind the structures and processes that shape all these places and images. An interest in understanding and portraying design decisions, social realities, ecological tensions, and economic frameworks. CultShare does not aim to provide definitive answers, but rather to create a space for observation, reflection, and open questions.

To this end, CultShare connects perspectives on design and space, art and visual culture, economics and society, as well as places in transition. At the same time, encounters with people, practices, and situations remain crucial— moments in which abstract processes of transformation become tangible in everyday life. Essays, visual narratives, interviews, and field notes stand side by side on equal footing.

CultShare views travel not as an escape, but as a form of attention — to details, contradictions, and connections. That is why we want to bring together curious readers with real lives, limited budgets, and big ideas: people who understand culture as lived experience, not as a finished product.

Cultural transitions, lived – is not only a guiding motto, but a working principle. Operation CultShare is not a completed project, but one in constant development — reflective rather than loud, critical without cynicism, and driven by the ambition to share perspectives that invite closer attention and perhaps a different way of looking at the world.

Über Operation CultShare

Operation CultShare ist ein journalistisches Projekt, ein narratives Projekt, ein Fotoprojekt, ein Kunstprojekt – ein Herzensprojekt. Es ist ein Reiseblog – aber es ist mehr als das. Hier erzählen wir von Reisen und Menschen und Orten – aber auch von kulturellen Übergängen, von Kultur in all ihrer Vernetzung, in ihrer Alltäglichkeit, aber auch in ihrer gestalterischen Entfaltung, in ihrer ökonomischen und ihrer persönlichen Dimension.

Vor allem aber interessiert uns der Mensch selbst und wie er sich in einer Welt des Wandels bewegt und orientiert: wie sich Städte verändern, wie Räume gestaltet werden, wie Bilder Wahrnehmung prägen, wie wirtschaftliche Strukturen Möglichkeiten rahmen und wie Reisen zu einer Praxis der Aufmerksamkeit werden kann – jenseits von Konsum und Oberfläche.

Entstanden ist CultShare, wie so viele Reiseblogs, aus unseren eigenen Reisen, aus unserer Leidenschaft für Fotografie – und gemeinsamen Gesprächen. Aber da war immer auch noch mehr. Ein Wunsch, hinter die Kulissen zu blicken, hinter die Strukturen und Prozesse, die all diese Orte und Bilder bedingen. Ein Interesse, auch gestalterische Entscheidungen, soziale Realitäten, ökologischen Spannungen und ökonomischen Rahmenbedingungen zu verstehen und darzustellen. CultShare soll hierbei keine endgültigen Antworten liefern, sondern vielmehr einen Raum für Beobachtung, Einordnung und offene Fragen.

In diesem Sinne verbindet CultShare Perspektiven auf Design und Raum, Kunst und visuelle Kultur, Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft sowie Orte im Wandel. Doch ebenfalls nicht zu kurz kommen dürfen hierbei Begegnungen mit Menschen, Praktiken und Situationen, in denen sich abstrakte Transformationsprozesse im Alltag konkret zeigen. Essays, visuelle Erzählungen, Interviews und Feldnotizen stehen dabei gleichberechtigt nebeneinander.

CultShare versteht Reisen nicht als Flucht, sondern als Form der Aufmerksamkeit – für Details, Widersprüche und Zusammenhänge. Deshalb richten wir uns an neugierige Leser:innen mit realen Leben, begrenzten Budgets und großen Ideen: an Menschen, die Kultur als gelebte Erfahrung begreifen, nicht als fertiges Produkt.

Cultural transitions, lived -ist dabei nicht nur ein Leitsatz, sondern ein Arbeitsprinzip. Operation CultShare ist kein abgeschlossenes Projekt, sondern ständig in Entwicklung – reflektiert statt laut, kritisch ohne Zynismus und getragen von dem Anspruch, Perspektiven zu teilen, die dazu einladen, genauer hinzusehen und vielleicht anders auf die Welt zu blicken.
